First PhotoBioModulation Valeda Treatment Starts!
For the first time I have been able to offer some real hope to those with Dry Macular degeneration.
Before now there has been only the AREDS Vitamins and monitoring. No other treatment.
However with the Presentation of the LightSite Trial in America the Valeda infra red eye treatment
has been found to produce very significant benefits in terms of vision, with drusen reduction and geographic control.
Based on years of scientific research from around the world the turning point is the development of multi wavelength LED's
that can generate infrared Light. Now many specialities are looking into the benefits of Red light to other parts of the body.
Valeda have designed a delivery system specific to the eyes. 5 minutes of 3 different specific wavelengths of light 590nm, 660 and 850nm. These are
focused on the eye. This is repeated 9 times in a month and then 3 times per year. Treatment is quick, painless and totally safe.
This does hearld possibly a new ear in treatment for not only Macular degeneration but also other retina disease. DCRNET in the USA is
starting a trial for diabetics with mild Macular odema. Other studies are also underway for other eye conditions.
Careful selection and diagnosis is key, where an OCT scan is crucial. The ideal patient is one who has early to moderate disease.
It is early days and we will have to build up clinical experience. The trials are continuing and the 3 years results will be available in 2024.
