Laser treatment for Floaters with Ellex Tango Reflex
Everyone has a few floaters, but in middle age very often the Vitreous (Jelly of the eye) sperates from the back of the eye,
called a posterior vitreous detachment. When this occurs the remants of the vitreous attachments around the optic disc form
large flaoters know as Weiss ring. In some cases these can be very troublesome.
Mr Lee first treated flaoters with laser in 1998 with the standard YAG laser used in all departments but this was very challenging to underake.
The development of Ellex Tango Reflex laser is a YAG laser specifically designed for lasering the vitreous and floaters. It makes the procedure much easier and safer.
Its unique feature is that the laser, optics and illumination are all aligned in a straight line. These lasers are more expensive and few hospitals have this particular model.
The Western Eye Hospital, where Mr Lee works, has just purchased the Ellex Tango Reflex laser.
Mr Lee now looks forward to being able to treat symptomatic floaters with the laser.
