New Visual Field testing Method
Mr Lee has returned from the American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting in America.
This meeting is always an exciting meeting with new ideas and updates. He finds it a really useful meeting and usually brings back new ideas and equipment.
This time both he and his Technician Michele were impressed with the new Visual Field testing equipment.
Traditionally Visual field testing is not liked by patients or technicians. It can also be difficult for patients with physical ddisabilities.
Aaron Smith and his team have created a FDA approved Visual field test equivalent to the standard Humphrey visual fields that used every where
with a simple Oculus Go head set. This simple small wearable headset presents the user with the visual field testing in a much more comfortable manner.
Sit back and relax in the chair while you are talked through the visual field test. It is totally portable and all the test results are stored centrally so it does not matter where you are seen
comparision can still be made.
We were very impressed immediately with the technology and it was even enjoyable to do the test.
Mr Lee is the first to have this in the UK and is offering this to his patients as an alternative to the traditional field machine.
Our experience so far is 100% of people prefer this to the traditional gold fish bowl type automated field machine.
Also those with arthritis or neck problems can rest in any position far more comfortably.
We think this is a real advance and addition to field testing equipment.
