K9 Zeiss 5000 OCT A Software Update
Mr Lee prides himself on keeping up-to-date with technology especially in the medical retina field. Today there has been a major update in the software of the Zeiss OCT angiography machine and is pleased to be able to be one of the 1st to experience the new power within the new version 11 software.
Thus K9 the world's only portable medical retina OCT machine has the upgrade and this marries beautifully with the Tesla X that k9 is transported from hospital to hospital offering the latest technology to his patients.
Mr Lee feels that OCT imaging has most likely reached its limits of resolution as it is limited by the wavelength of light. To wavelengths are used, 900 to 930 nm is the most popular at the moment but there is also the longer wavelength 1300 nm. The difference being that the shorter wavelength gives a higher resolution than the longer wavelength but the longer wavelengths are able to image larger areas or volumes. The medical retina shorter wavelength has significant benefits and until the longer swept source OCT technology increases its frequency rate to perhaps around 400 kHz we will not see significant advantages. Swept source OCT does have the potential to increase the frequency to this level and even to gigahertz whereas the shorter wavelength is limited at present to around 80 kHz.
Technology continues to evolve Mr Lee believes in ensuring he keeps at the cutting edge and is always an early adopter of any new technology. I cannot
