Cataract surgery with or without laser?

Is Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery Better than Surgery Done without a Laser?

A question I often get asked, and came across David-Richardson in California article which sums up the reasons why most UK Ophthalmologists have not taken up the use of a laser during cataract surgery.

His article is worth reading and the link is:

http://david-richardson-md.com/cataracts/laser-cataract-surgery-vs-phacoemulsification-only/

He concludes, which we also did at the RSM meeting last year that the additional use of a laser to assist in cataract surgery  is not necessary and not good value for money.

A sensible article and explains why it has not taken off in the UK.
