Mr Lee Takes delivery of the first Centurion Phaco/Cataract Machine sold outside of the USA.
Alcon Launched their next generation of Phaco machines. This is the heart of the tools needed to remove a cataract. These machines can remove a cataract through tiny incisions less than 2.6mm in size. This was first performed in the early 1990's and Mr Lee was one of the first to use these machines and in his early carreer it was a question of making a business case to each of the hospitals he worked at to have the first machines. These were quite crued by todays standards.
The most popular machine is the Alcon Infinity launched in 2003 and adopted widely world wide.
In 2013 their next generation of Phaco machine called the Centurion was launched. The design was significantly improved with much improved fluidics making the procedure safer. This will be come the gold standard in Phaco machines Mr Lee believes.

A proud moment.
He took delivery of the first and as of February remains the first in the UK of this next generation, installed at the Clementine Churchill hospital in Harrow. It is in Mr Lee's view a major step forward. With the new system comes a completely new Swan neck phaco tip that is claimed to be even more efficient and thus safer for the patient than the Ozil Kelman tips Mr Lee uses currently.
