This is the latest version of Zeiss's software Mr Lee is very pleased to be one of the first to have this software on his own OCT machine.
This gives some new capabilities to K9:
Retinal pigment epithelial analysis is a new function that will look both at the number and volume of drusen present and be able to compare these from one visit to the next. Currently Mr Lee does this manually but the new software will make this considerably easier to make drusen a quantifiable task. In addition it will measure the area of geographic atrophy which is a particular problem that is now identified by using OCT images on the Cirrus. Geographic atrophy is a thinning of the retina and slowly increases over the years. The new slab section analysis enables the area to be calculated and analysed over a period of time.
The glaucoma analysis of canine has been enhanced with new trend analysis for the optic disc size and volume. This complements the GDX analysis which looks at the nerve fibre layer and now is able to look over a period of time on changes in the optic disc size and shape and structure.
Mr Lee is sure that there are other hidden Easter eggs within the software which will enhance the performance.
After his trip to Germany K9 health is now very good producing exceptional quality scans and is looking forward to enjoying the new software.
